MetaMask, the popular Ethereum wallet, launched a fiat on-ramp for U.S. users via Stripe, the $50B global payments processor.
MetaMask announced the news on Oct. 11, noting that the service is now live across its mobile app, browser extension, and via MetaMask Portfolio. U.S.-based MetaMask users can now purchase digital assets with dollars via the service.
“We’re thrilled to announce that our US users will now be able to on-ramp to crypto using Stripe,” MetaMask tweeted. “The fiat-to-crypto onramp will be powered by Link, Stripe's one-click payment solution that optimizes authorization rates and simplifies the purchase experience.”
Stripe first dipped its toe into web3 last April when it launched USDC payouts for Twitter creators.
The partnership comes one month after PayPal, the leading global payments firm, launched consumer-facing fiat on and off-ramp services for web3 merchants operating in the U.S. PayPal also rolled out fiat on-ramps for U.S.-based MetaMask and Ledger users purchasing ETH last December.
