Coinbase has added four national security experts to its Global Advisory Council, including former US Secretary of Defense Dr. Mark T. Esper. The other new members are: Stephanie Murphy, a former congresswoman from Florida and former national security specialist at the Defense Department; Frances Townsend, a former counterterrorism and homeland security advisor to President George W. Bush; and David Urban, a lobbyist who was also a senior advisor to Donald Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign and oversaw corporate affairs at ByteDance. The quartet will join four others on the council, who were already appointed in May 2023. Coinbase is currently fighting the US Securities and Exchange Commission in an unregistered securities dispute.
